"I Heart Nicole Michalik,” Yangming’s October Tasty Talk speaker.

“I Heart Nicole Michalik,”
Yangming’s October Tasty Talk speaker.

“With each new Tasty Talk, Yangming’s popular luncheons feel even more like a family reunion,” says Tasty Talks founder, Realtor Michelle Leonard.

In fact, October’s effervescent speaker, Nicole Michalik, social media director for iHeart Media Philadelphia, brought her proud parents, Diane and Chet, along with her Aunt Lucinda and Uncle Joe. Loyal Tasty Talks’ guest Andrea Drucquer, a member of the Certa Pro team, also brought her mother Vaune Bruno from West Chester. And all were briefly serenaded by Grammy nominee R&B singer Cecil Parker of Old City.

Raised in the Poconos, Nicole described growing up in a small town with an independent spirit. Her journey carried her from tiny Summit Hill, population 3,000, to her home in Philadelphia, where she’s Q102’s colorful “Nik the Web Chick,” and dishes celeb gossip on Real 106.1.

“Nik” also shared how she landed a coveted spot on “The Biggest Loser.” First, she and her friends mailed the show a video of Nicole jogging up the Art museum stairs a la Rocky, only to slow to an actual crawl at the halfway mark. Next, she topped that by sending the show’s producers a package stuffed with Twinkies and Tastycakes, declaring that she has sworn off sweets, and was ready for prime time.

Nicole spoke from the heart about her active role as a Young Friend of The Parkinson’s Council. She recalled  how her family came to grips with her dad’s Parkinson Disease, and how often people failed to understand the cause of his physical limitations. Then she introduced Wendy Lewis, Executive Director of her chosen Tasty Talks charity, The Parkinson Council.  Ms. Lewis spoke with passion about the outreach of the Philadelphia-based non-profit, and praised Nicole’s parents as an inspiration.

Yangming welcomes Mina “Say What” Llona on Wednesday, November 28.

For Yangming’s last Tasty Talk for 2018, Nicole’s friend Mina “SayWhat” Llona takes the stage. The beautiful radio personality and event host broadcasts to 22 million subscribers on SIRIUS XM’s The Heat. Mina’s entertainment and lifestyle stories have been featured on Fox 29. She also hosts “Queen Me,” her own annual women’s empowerment panel; and is the founder and coach of “The Power Squad” dance team for young women.

For November’s charity, Mina has chosen the Animal Welfare Association of Voorhees. South Jersey’s largest no-kill animal shelter offers life-saving veterinary services and a low-cost spay and neuter clinic. Last year, the 70 year old non-profit found homes for 2,593 dogs, cats and bunnies.

Tickets to see Mina and enjoy a fabulous family-style lunch with hors d’oeuvres and dessert are just $20 in advance, including tax, tip and charitable contribution. Call 610-527-3200 to reserve your seats via credit card, or pay via PayPal.
