Tasty Talks returns Wednesday, January 29
with CBS3 News anchor Jessica Kartalija.

Come jumpstart a brand new decade with CBS3 media powerhouse and Tasty Talks’ guest speaker Jessica Kartalija. Our very own dynamo, Tasty Talks’ founder and host Realtor Michelle Leonard, will again welcome her circle of celebrity friends to enjoy a memorable Tasty Talk and a fabulous family-style lunch.

Though born and raised in San Diego, Jessica’s family hails from the East Coast, where she returned to earn a B.A. in broadcast journalisn from Penn State. She also scored TV internships in San Diego and Washington DC, and spent a semester abroad in Seville, where she became fluent in her minor, Spanish.

Jessica launched her career as marketing specialist for ESPN’s X Games. But it wasn’t long before she was a weekend anchor and reporter in Yuma, AZ, where her Hard News Feature Stories took first prize from the Associated Press.

Fast forward to last October where, after 13 years’ covering the news for WJZ in Baltimore, Jessica joined Ukee Washington as KYW CBS3 News co-anchor. While in Baltimore, she also managed to earn her Master’s in Communications from Johns Hopkins University, play the reporter in the movie Transformers, teach communications at Stevenson University, and marry her husband Brian in 2009. Two years later, they welcomed their son.

Before Baltimore, there was Albuquerque, where Jessica anchored KYMA-TV2’s News at Nine and reported for its sister station, KOB-TV. Eventually she anchored the second station’s 4pm news while still reporting for other newscasts.

Jessica’s incredible energy is also manifest in her many contributions to the communities she serves. She’s worked with the Special Olympics, is part of the Women’s Initiative Network, is a member of the National Press Club and American News Women’s Club, and was named a Baltimore Rising Star by the Living Classrooms Foundation. Baltimore’s Daily Record also honored her professional accomplishment, community involvement, and commitment to inspiring change with its Leading Women Award.

Jessica’s Tasty Talk is a benefit for Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

For her Tasty Talk charity, Jessica has chosen the Main Line charitable foundation that’s working to change the lives of children with cancer. Alex’s Lemonade Stand has funded nearly 1,000 research projects across North America, and supports families by making cutting-edge cancer treatments accessible to children.
