Tasty Talks founder Michelle Leonard and Yangming proprietor Michael Wei welcomed almost 120 guests to the elegant Yangming banquet room to hear Fox 29 news anchor and animal advocate Lucy Noland.

Among the guests were former Tasty Talk speakers Governor Ed Rendell, Steve Morrison of WMMR’s Preston and Steve Show, and Philly Current magazine publisher Eddie Keels. Also present were Kristin Hermann of Ben FM and Bill Anderson and Thomas Drayton of Fox 29, along with the next two Tasty Talks speakers, Nichole Michalik of iHeart Media (October 24), and Mina “Say What” Llona of Sirius XM (November 28).

Also present in force were many of the region’s most dedicated animal advocates, several of whom joined Lucy at the microphone to share their efforts. Lucy and friends described a wide array of activities, both in our communities and state houses, to rescue and care for homeless cats and dogs, prevent cruelty, and close down puppy mills. The directors of the PA and NJ Humane Societies and the Brandywine Valley SPCA all described fielding calls from Lucy at all hours to help dogs and cats in need. Villanova Professor Stephanie Sena, founder of the Student Run Emergency Housing Unit of Philadelphia (SREHUP), also expressed her gratitude for Lucy’s energetic support

$2,400 Raised for Lucy’s Charity.

Governor Rendell also took to the stage to talk about his “adventures” with Lucy to protect animals. Then, the Governor served as auctioneer for a private lunch with both himself and Lucy, with all proceeds going to Non-lethal Options for Animals. The winning bid? Fifteen hundred dollars, bringing the total raised for Lucy’s charity to over $2,400. Our sincere thanks to all of our Tasty Talks guests, and to Maria Delaney, owner of Louella Boutique, for her charitable contributions.
