Talk about a media dynamo! Radio personality, TV reporter, event host, brand ambassador and public speaker Mina “SayWhat” Llona seems to be just about everywhere.

At 21, Mina was broadcasting to 22 million subscribers nationwide on SIRIUS XM The Heat. Four years later, Mina became the first Latina Morning Show Host on Philly’s WUSL-FM, making it the #1 morning show for listeners 18-34, a first for Power 99.

Mina has appeared on 6ABC, CBS, NBC10 and Fox 29 in Philly, and nationwide on Inside Edition, Oxygen’s Sisterhood Of Hip Hop, and The Rachael Ray Show. She also hosts Philadelphia’s Puerto Rican Parade on 6ABC, as well as arena concerts, pep rallies, movie screenings, parades and fashion shows.

Growing up in Union City, NJ, Mina developed a passion for music and dance, played varsity volleyball, basketball and softball at Emerson High, and helped her team win the NJ state volleyball championship. Today Mina is founder and coach of “The Power Squad” dance team for women ages 15-22, and participates in kids training camps and charity events as ambassador for the 76ers’ “Sixers Youth” basketball league.

Mina regularly speaks at universities, and elementary and high schools on topics including succeeding in media, women empowerment, branding, and finding your path. In 2015, Mina was invited to the White House as a youth leader to discuss healthcare solutions. She also hosts “Queen Me,” her own annual women’s empowerment panel.

Our Tasty Talks Charity: the Animal Welfare Association of Voorhees, NJ

For this month’s Tasty Talks’ charity, Mina has chosen the non-profit Animal Welfare Association of Voorhees, NJ. South Jersey’s oldest and largest adoption and no-kill animal shelter strives to eliminate animal suffering via life-saving veterinary services, a low-cost spay and neuter clinic, pet therapy and humane education. They also work to improve the role of animals in the well-being of people, and to ensure access to animal companionship for all.

Over 50% of the animals brought to the shelter need medical care. No animal is euthanized due to age, attractiveness, space, length of stay, or for treatable conditions. Last year, the 70 year old charity achieved a 97% save rate, finding homes for 2,593 dogs, cats and bunnies.
